How knee and joint pain tends to show up

Joint pain is usually a load problem before it is a tissue problem. These are the presentations we see most often — if something here sounds like your week, an evaluation is a reasonable next step.

How We Help

Care that changes how the joint is loaded

Every plan starts with a real evaluation — one therapist, dedicated one-on-one care, no rotating aides. What we find there decides what we treat.

01

One-on-One Evaluation

You get a full session with Bob — an experienced licensed physical therapist — not a handoff to a tech. We take your history, test what the joint tolerates, and watch how you load it under real tasks.

02

Identify Contributing Movement Factors

Joint pain is usually downstream of something else. We look at hip and ankle mobility, quad and glute strength, and how you absorb load through stairs, squats and landing.

03

Personalized Treatment & Progression

Hands-on treatment to settle an irritable joint, paired with a progressive strength plan that raises what the joint can tolerate — so relief holds up once you leave the clinic.

What to Expect

From your first visit to full activity

01

Evaluation

A full one-on-one assessment: your history, what the joint tolerates, what makes it worse, and a straight answer about what is going on and how long it is likely to take.

02

Personalized Plan

Treatment built for your findings and your schedule — hands-on care in the clinic, plus a home programme scaled to what you can realistically keep up between visits.

03

Progress Toward Full Activity

We keep loading the plan as you improve, moving from symptom relief to full function — stairs, squatting, walking, training — and on to the performance level you want returned to you.

Payment & Insurance

Cash-based care, without the insurance runaround

Performance Physiotherapy is a cash-based, out-of-network practice. That is what makes the dedicated one-on-one sessions possible — no visit caps set by an insurer, and no treatment plan written around what a plan will authorise.

Reimbursement is not guaranteed. It depends entirely on your plan’s out-of-network benefits, deductible and coverage rules. We are happy to provide the paperwork, but we cannot promise what your insurer will pay.

FAQ

Knee and joint pain questions we hear a lot

No referral is required — you can book directly. If your evaluation suggests you need imaging, a physician or another specialist, Bob will tell you that plainly and help you coordinate the next step.

It depends on how long it has been there and what is driving it. Many patients notice a change within the first two to three visits, while long-standing or arthritic joints usually take longer. You will get an honest estimate at your evaluation rather than an open-ended plan.

Often not. A thorough movement evaluation tells us a great deal about what is provoking your symptoms, and imaging findings do not always match how someone actually feels. If anything in your assessment suggests imaging is warranted, we will say so and refer you appropriately.

Performance Physiotherapy is a cash-based, out-of-network practice, so payment is due at the time of service. Bob can provide a superbill or treatment codes that you may submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement — though reimbursement depends on your plan and is never guaranteed.

Usually yes, with adjustments. Joints generally do better with the right amount of load than with none at all. Part of the plan is working out what you can keep doing, what needs modifying for now, and how to build tolerance up again.
